A Trilogy of Festivals Part II
Sunday 22nd June by Wednesday 25th June
On Sunday 22nd June morning I make my way to the second of three festivals. My car is fully packed for a raid to Oschersleben where I am part of the crew of Rock & Metal Day’z 2025. As last year, it is going to be a demanding 10 days experience. Now I meet with the others who have been eagerly awaiting this weekend for a year. They are the members of MA.D.E.for Kids e. V. and friends who will be hosting Rock & Metal Day’z 2025 from 26th to 28th June. They are very excited about the new location, the Autocross-Rennstrecke An Den Sieben Bergen in Oschersleben. How will the set-up go, will it be too cramped, are there any uncertainties, or will everything run smoothly? On Sunday before, the set-up crew will meet, get settled and make the initial preparations. So enjoy pics of the set-up first, click to enlarge.
Three Days
From Monday to Wednesday, the entire site will be built from scratch, with only the supply and backstage tents already in place. First, materials have to be brought in: construction fences, tents, kitchen utensils, tables, benches, pavilions – everything needed to make the festival a success, apart from good bands and spectators. Even a storm sweeping through the site in the afternoon does not stop the crew from setting up; what cannot be done is tackled with double the effort the next day.
Two Days
From Tuesday onwards, the stage will also be set up. The various teams are busy all day long without a break, and then the rows of tents for band merch, event merch, whisky and rum lounge on the one hand, and catering on the other, are ready, as is the stage, remarkably in record time.
One Day
On Wednesday, the technical stuff is installed and checked so that by the evening, everything is ready and the sound and lighting are just right. The stalls to the left and right of the stage are also set up, while the first campers arrive at the new site. On Thursday, only minor adjustments are made, and then the infield can be opened punctually at 14:00, the first guests meet for a freshly tapped cold drink at one of the two beverage carts. They listen eagerly to the sound check of the first band.
