Quad Brutal is the perfect soundtrack on a racetrack or to pump up your muscles in the gym. I believe, it was written and produced to fulfill exactly this role. Nothing more, nothing less. Thus, in its way it is a perfect album which does its job. Go for it if you like very fast, very brutal guitar riffs and harsh vocal or spend a lot of time in your local gym. AND don’t take everything too serious 😉
I am not very much into the world of instrumental albums and bands but Monkey3 blew me away. Welcome to the machine is a perfect soundtrack for the film you create when you close your eyes. Leave reality and let your visions come true in your inner eyes. Let your imagination rule your thoughts and your mind. Wake up and compare this fiction with reality. Is it so far away?
I believe that the highest ecstasies that one can reach with live music are always far greater than that obtainable from recordings, both as a performer and spectator (which when confronted with the purest music, such a distinction between the two breaks down)
What is better than a concert of legends on a Friday night? Exactly, another concert with three more outstanding bands on the very next day. We enjoy Ravenfield's Dark Rock, Teeth Of Lamb's Thrash Metal and Mysterica playing a more than two hours set of Metallica classics.
I'm speechless. Fragments Of Consciousness is very complex and very varied. It is certainly not an album for easy listening on the motorway. I imagine turning off the lights, leaning back and closing my eyes. Dream away and lose yourself listening to this outstanding album.
Dead for the First Time is not dead for the first time, but very much alive. Fresh and alive. Hungry and alive. Thrash and alive at its best. The album reminds me in many aspects of early Metallica and the “Big Four” of Thrash Metal. Two aspects certainly are the harsh vocals combined with very tight and precise guitar structures.
What could be better than having your own birthday concert if you're a true metalhead? Especially if you have your own band? Exactly, giving your own concert for your friends! This happened this weekend at the VAZ Burglengenfeld. The birthday boy in this case was none other than Flo Schmöller, singer of Mysterica and Wanted Inc.
Some weeks ago, I interviewed Cobra Spell’s vocalist Kris Vega. It is not her only band, I was already aware of Born In Exile, but she also told me about her third band, SerapiS Project, together with guitarist Joaco Luis. This conceptual progressive metal project released its first album in autumn 2023. I gave it a listen. I liked it, so here we are with the belated review of “Palingenesis”.
Chris Maragoth’s Gatherer of Souls has introduced me to another version, another world of Metal. It is complex, it is melancholic. The album is very different. I can dream away with this wonderful gem and piece of art and can only invite you to give it a listen and watch out for more to come from Chris Maragoth.
