Winter Madness is coming. It is not the first time it is going to take place and yet, somehow I managed to miss it all over the years. Gladly, I change it this year and am curious about the event. So here they are, my findings to rouse your appetite for the Winter Madness on 9th and 10th December at Jahnhalle Hirschhaid nearby Bamberg, Franconia. A crowd of roughly 500 heads should get the venue decently packed which makes it a mid-sized venue rather than one of the big concert halls.
Lights go out, Timmy Rough on vocals and guitar, Dizzy Daniels on lead-guitar, Hardy Heart on badass Bass and drummer Urban Berz leave the backstage area, grab their guitars and drum sticks and The New Roses enter the stage at their "Heimspiel" at Schlachthof Wiesbaden during their Sweet Poison tour 2022.
Four metal bands of which all of the musicians are pure eye candy. Nevertheless, skills, hard work and talent over looks, all of them are first of all brilliant musicians, there is no doubt about it. I am talking about Ad Infinitum, Butcher Babies, Amaranthe and Beyond The Black. Stadthalle Offenbach seems to be the adequate size for these four metal jewels. The tour is double headlined by Amaranthe and Beyond The Black and was postponed several times due to you-know-what. Now there are no restrictions and the party can begin.
With Finntroll, Skálmöld and their support band Brymir a very fitting package is touring all over Europe these days. Let’s check on their Berlin tour stop and also cast short glance on Skálmöld’s 10th “Börn Loka” anniversary shows recently in Reykjavik.
Epica have just released their epic album "The Alchemy Project" featuring many interesting artists usually known from all but symphonic metal genres such as Björn "Speed" Strid, Niilo Sevänen or Sven de Caluwé or the legendary Uriah Heep keyboard veteran Phil Lanzon.
It is balancing act on the edge to find the right path between three opposites and even unite them. Like no other band Manntra blindly find and follow this path between metal, folk and catchiness.
The Dark River Festival is a unique metal festival and as such deserves a report outstanding from the mass of exchangeable reviews - this time in form a letter to one of the founders of the DRF: Lauri. Enjoy sharing the letter with him.
