They say, all good things come in threes. And with the Summer Breeze Open Air 2026 sold out for the third consecutive year, great things are on the horizon from 12. – 15. August 2026. Its position as one of the reliably sold-out peaks in the European festival landscapes is cemented only few weeks after the latest band announcement. Fittingly, the most recently announced wave of bands adds another 33 names to an already stellar lineup:
EISBRECHER, HATEBREED, SKINDRED, SOULFLY, PARADISE LOST, KADAVAR, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, DECAPITATED, EIVØR, WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, HEAVYSAURUS, THE SONS OF HUENS, SANGUISUGABOGG, SPEED, MASSIVE WAGONS, GREEN LUNG, THE NARRATOR, FULCI, URNE, NECKBREAKKER, KING NUGGET GANG, SKELETON PIT, CASTLE RAT, CÂN BARDD, BROKEN BY THE SCREAM, BIZARREKULT, INNER SPACE, FIREBORN, PRIDIAN, INHUMAN NATURE, 802, PERSECUTOR, and obviously of course also the BLASMUSIK ILLENSCHWANG.
With that, only 104 of the presumably over 130 bands are announced, and at the same time, the lineup for the three biggest stages of the festival is officially complete. And while not every exciting artist name is spoken yet, fans already need to rely on luck on the second-hand market for quite some time now. What a beautiful message of loyalty by the Summer Breeze festival family. But if you aren’t lucky yet, fret not, help is provided. Keep your eyes peeled, cause the Summer Breeze offers a ticket marketplace. So check it out regularly and make sure you don’t miss out. Alternatively, consider a one-day ticket from the regular ticket shop. There you can also find more infos about which bands are assigned to the respective day yet.
Heavy Hitters

Among the massive lineup await us once again some big names. Celebrating their 40th birthday, the pure Power Metal pumpkinheads from Helloween make a stop in Dinkelsbühl to present us with an extraordinarily theatrical anniversary show.
A double dose of Swedish Melodic Death is served by In Flames and Arch Enemy. The latter of which only recently announced their new singer, Lauren Hart (ex-Once Human), to join them for the first time during this year’s festival season.
And with the recent band wave, the last headliner and regular guests in Dinkelsbühl, Eisbrecher, are announced now, too. Get on board to sail through an icy storm of their typical Neue Deutsche Härte style.
Obscuro Obscurities
We don’t want to send you off to the fields of Dinkelsbühl without giving you a few recommendations. If you are into Deathcore, you are definitely strongly advised to make time for Thy Art Is Murder. The Australians are well known for provocative lyrics and inhumane vocals.
Another big name on the lineup and certainly no secret gem anymore are The Butcher Sisters aka TBS. With their blend of rap and all kinds of Metal as well as hilariously stupid songs about alcohol, 2000s trends, and all kinds of other nonsense, they will make you constantly switch between moshing and laughing.
Speaking of blending styles, we are also looking forward to Crossover wonders Skindred. The mix of Rap, Metal, Electro and at times even Dubstep elements to very danceable, almost groovy vibes, gives them an iconic sonic soundscape. Make sure not to miss out on the Brits and keep your shirt handy for the Newport Hellicopter.
Another unique musical composition is to be expected by Miracle of Sound. The tour lineup around Gavin Dunne’s one-man project is well-known for film and video game soundtracks. We certainly already admire his versatility on the albums, but seeing these iconic OSTs performed live is bound to be an entirely new and, honestly, quite intriguing experience.
In terms of showmanship and insanely versatile vocals, we are looking forward to Kim Dracula a lot. Yet another artist transcending the borders of lyrics. And with their vocals jumping quite as frantically around as the underlying soundscape, moshing around violently is very much to be expected. With their music resembling the Rap / Metal equivalent of progressive Jazz rhythms, we are bound to dance along for sure.
For those who prefer their metal with a heavy side of theatrical nightmare, Mushroomhead is an absolute must-see. The Cleveland-based collective is legendary for their cinematic stage presence, featuring iconic masks and their signature water-drums that turn every beat into a visual explosion. Musically, expect a genre-bending assault of industrial, nu-metal, and avant-garde elements. Their live shows are more than just a concert—they’re a dark, atmospheric experience that thrives in the festival setting. If you want a set that’s as much a visual spectacle as it is a sonic one, make sure you’re at the front for this.
If you’re looking for raw energy and the future of German metalcore, look no further than Setyøursails. Led by the fierce and charismatic Jules Mitch, this Cologne-based powerhouse has been tearing up the scene with a mix of crushing breakdowns and infectious, melodic hooks. Their music doesn’t shy away from socio-critical themes, delivered with an intensity that demands a circle pit. They’ve quickly become one of the most exciting live acts in the genre, and their performance in Dinkelsbühl is bound to be a high-octane reminder that the new generation of metal is in very capable hands.
The Discovery Zone – Riot of the Underground

But not only did we get an announcement for the newest band wave, but also for the Riot of the Underground. With them the Summer Breeze presents us an assortment of smaller or newcomer bands on a festival stage. For those who usually only frequent the big ones, we recommend using the opportunity to check out some smaller upstarts or hidden gems presenting their versatility and talent.
Here you will find 802, CÂN BARDD, CASTLE RAT, INHUMAN NATURE, KING NUGGET GANG, PERSECUTOR, and URNE. But also beyond this dedicated format, the Summer Breeze always offers a broad variety of genres AND sizes, so if you want to find something new or at least new to you, make sure to regularly visit the smaller stages, namely the Wera Tool Stage and Campsite Circus Stage, as well as the early or very late hour slots of the days.
Nuclear Blast Label Night

And as if that weren’t enough, yet another Summer Breeze institution’s recurrence was announced with the Nuclear Blast Label Night. Taking over the T-Stage on Wednesday evening, this long-standing tradition serves as the ultimate high-caliber warm-up, showcasing the stylistic diversity of one of metal’s most iconic labels. From established legends to the most promising newcomers, the curated lineup offers a masterclass in heavy music to welcome the early arrivals to Dinkelsbühl. This year’s menu consists of EIVØR, PARADISE LOST, GREEN LUNG, THE NARRATOR, and NECKBREAKKER.
Beyond the bands
While the massive lineup is the primary draw, Summer Breeze has built a reputation for its vibrant “festival-within-a-festival” culture. The Campsite Circus poses as a second beating heart outside of the infield, typically hosting over 30 eclectic, rather smaller acts. Oftentimes this is also the place-to-be for alterantive agenda points such as the traditional Festival Yoga morning program or last year’s Harsh Metal Workshop with Britta Görtz.
And it’s even worth going further out, to the nearby city of Dinkelsbühl. The medieval setting of the old town and its unique relationship with the festival often draws many Metalheads in for a quick visit. After all, no Summer Breeze is complete without the traditional opening performance by the Blasmusik Illenschwang brass band, a moment where the local culture and the metal world collide in a sea of raised beer mugs and battle vests. It’s this blend of tradition, community, and curated chaos that makes the trek to the Summer Breeze an annual pilgrimage rather than just another weekend of music.
Plan your trip
Summer Breeze offers a diverse range of tailored camping experiences, from the eco-conscious Green Camping zones to fully equipped areas and pre-plotted reserved spaces for larger crews. These specialized spots provide a structured sanctuary amidst the metal mayhem, but they are notorious for selling out almost as soon as they go live. If you’re looking for a specific vibe—or simply want to ensure your entire squad can camp together without a frantic land-grab, you should act fast. Some areas are already sold out, while others are still available in the Summe Breeze shop.
The mandatory pre-booked arrival slots might seem like a bit of unnecessary bureaucracy at first glance, but they have proven to be a total game-changer for the festival’s logistics. Since their introduction, the legendary traffic jams leading into Dinkelsbühl have been replaced by smooth sailing and efficient processing. This system ensures that the influx of thousands of metalheads is staggered, making the journey way less taxing for everyone and allowing the party to start the moment you hit the gravel, rather than after four hours of idling on the main road.

The fields of Dinkelsbühl await
