Rockharz Festival 2024 – Here We Were

Rockharz Statements

There are some official statement regarding inclusion, Cultur for All, Rock’n’Recycle, and Glück in Dosen. Here are the full statements for your knowlegde. That’s METAL!!!

Inclusion

“As you may all know and may have seen live again this year, inclusion at ROCKHARZ has always been a topic very close to our hearts as organizers. And that’s exactly why, even after all we’ve already accomplished so far, we want to achieve even more together every year and keep getting better.

A lot has happened at ROCKHARZ 2024 compared to last year – and we are already working on new ideas for 2025!

Therefore, we’d be delighted if you would dedicate a few lines to this topic in your follow-up reports this year.

Here are the facts and stats for 2024:

– Barrier-free flush toilets and shower containers are just as much a matter of course for us as barrier-free platforms for every stage and free access to the VIP area for disabled guests and their friends.

– After increasing the size of the inclusion camp last year (by 2.5 times compared to the year before), we’ve made it even larger again: 102 guests with disabilities attended the camp in 2024. They came with up to 4 accompanying persons, meaning that a total of around 300 people used the camp together this year.

– As usual, there was also a dedicated reception desk, e.g. for giving out festival wristbands and answering questions of all kinds, which was staffed 24/7.

– The Lebenshilfe Braunschweig team also organized a nursing service with 24-hour care at the inclusion camp in 2024. In addition to a nursing service manager, a curative education nurse and an intensive care nurse, the team included 4 curative education nurses, 13 generalist trainees from the Ausbildungsverbund BPZ, 3 trained nurses and 2 administrative staff at reception as well as 10 volunteers; this means: a 35-strong, passionate, committed team that was there with heart and soul.

– The Werner & Habermalz medical supply store in Goslar once again provided a mobile aid rental and repair service (for wheelchairs and aids of all kinds, among other things).

– Once again, with the support of Adam Hall, we were able to install wheelchair-accessible crossing bridges at various focal points on the festival site.

– At the inclusion camp, discarded conveyor belts were used not only as wheelchair paths, but also as guidance systems for the blind. Our guests from DBSV (German Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired) were very impressed how they were able to e.g. move autonomously from their camp to the sanitary facilities. We will be working even more closely with DBSV in the future.

– Our inclusion team is always available – before, during and after the event – via the email address inklusion@rockharz.com and striving to resolve even last-minute issues during the entire time of the festival.

also new in 2024:

– Care container with ceiling hoist and shower stretcher in the inclusion camp

– The sunflower: The sunflower badge, a sticker with a sunflower symbol as an identification mark for people with invisible disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), has become even more of a focus for us and our trained staff since this year.

– A covered inclusion grandstand on the infield and even more seating options next to the inclusion grandstand

– We are also continuing to work on a voice guidance app for blind fans, which is currently still in the test phase.

– Drink and food menus are already provided with QR codes for text-to-speech programs.

CULTURE FOR ALL Crowdfunding

We’ll continue to drive forward these and other measures as part of our project  “Kultur für Alle” to make our festival as accessible as possible for people with disabilities of all kinds. And there’s more to come: Did you see all the wonderful people at the festival ground wearing green T-shirts with QR codes on the back? If you didn’t scan them – no problem! Click here to check out our crowdfunding campaign: https://www.gofundme.com/f/kultur-fur-alle

With this campaign, we want to make “Kultur für Alle” something that will enable even more people with disabilities to participate in culture in the future – even beyond our festival.

If you have any questions or if you are generally interested in even more in-depth reporting, we are always here for you and looking forward to your numerous mentions, reports and feedback to our inclusion team at inklusion@rockharz.com.”

And there is another one regarding

“Rock’n’Recycle school project at the ROCKHARZ 2024 The Rock’n’Recycle student project was launched in 2022 by the 11th grade of Wolterstorff-Gymnasium in Ballenstedt under the direction of teacher Doreen Wölfer. The idea was that festival guests dispose of many things on site that could still be of use to others. The initiators therefore set themselves the goal of creating greater awareness of sustainability, because a damaged object is not always useless. As part of their project, the students accept donations every year at the ROCKHARZ in the form of camping chairs, durable food, sleeping bags, pavilions, sleeping mats and much more. The condition of the material is then checked, defective items are repaired and then allocated to various donation targets.

This year, the Rock’n’Recycle project was represented on site with 20 helpers. Among them were not only students from the current 11th grade, but also eight former students who have been involved in the project since the first year, as well as Doreen Wölfer and Doreen Bartl as supervisors.

donation recipients

The Volkssolidarität Aschersleben, the Quedlinburg animal shelter and the Halberstadt train station mission were selected as donation recipients. While the station mission mainly needs intact material, the animal shelter can also work with a slightly damaged sleeping bag or an old sleeping mat. Many festival visitors buy durable food such as canned food for their stay, which they no longer need when they return home. These are also gladly accepted by the Rock’n’Recycle students and passed on to the Volkssolidarität Aschersleben, as was the case this year. This shows that many things can still be used if you find the right recipient!

In addition to donations in kind, some festival visitors also make monetary donations for the projects presented. The students receive further support from the Glück in Dosen project, which has been established at ROCKHARZ for many years. Glück in Dosen provides Rock`n`Recycle with the returnable deposit collected during the event. With the money raised, the students can not only continue to support the animal shelter, but also promote their own project. For next year, for example, helper shirts are being planned so that the project is more visible at our festival.”

Check out the after movie and remember, 2025 is sold out already.
