30 years Rockharz – here we were!

Thursday – Hot

Sure, the party went on at the infield and campsite, so the night was short. If you think, 11:50 is not too early for the first band, I proved you wrong, it was. So I missed Infinitas together with all other members of AG Metal and Club Mimimii. It was more important to enjoy a proper breakfast on the campsite after a very long first night.

We also missed Delta Bats and How We End to make it only to the very last notes of Kris Barras Band and of course The Dark Side Of The Moon as the first band we would see completely. You might know its vocalist from another band. I’ve seen Melissa Boney with her other band Ad Ifinitum twice and I was impressed by how different she and her bandmates sounded even though it was the same sub-genre. Harp or not, that seems to be the question.

Then it was time for Unzucht, finally. Unzucht had been on the bill for 2022 but due to circumstances and a well-known virus, they had been reduced to an acoustic set of The Schulz And Friends. This time and with the complete band he performed a lovely set of their well-known songs with all the stuff it was supposed to have: drums, electric guitars and flames. We will see him again next year as the new vocalist of NDH-veterans Oomph! as his other project for the future.

After a short break for some food and missing Tribulation, it was time for a set of three bands in a row: Fiddler’s Green, Mr. Hurley Und Die Pulveraffen and Die Apokalyptischenen Reiter. Each of these band guarantees full metal fun and I believe I am not going too far when I say, at least one of them is a secret headliner and fan favourite of Rockharz. Guess, which one I mean! A little hint? No problem, I‘ll just say “Tortuga” and you find out the rest for yourself. Anyway, here are the pics.

Another break, another two bands missed later and we were ready for Feuerschwanz presenting their brand new album and their well-known hits and gimmicks. Once again one of those bands which simply deliver. You know exactly what you get. If you are a friend of their genre, you will never be disappointed. It was not different this time.

Headliner-time on Thursday meant to set the stage and the Infield In Flames. Good songs, good show, a lot of pyros, what does a fan heart desire more? Yes, nothing, the set was outrageous, extreme and very demanding. Sadly it got too demanding for me and my old muscles so I had to leave out Skáld and Onslaught. I knew it was a mistake and those of us who saw them proved me right. I hope there is going to be another chance for me to watch these wonderful bands.
