Bloodhunter – Sons Of The Abandoned

Bloodhunter

Sons of the Abandoned

Welcome to Spanish Extreme Metal, welcome to Bloodhunter’s forthcoming release “Sons of the Abandoned”. Even though Bloodhunter already made its name in the scene, some still might mainly remember vocalist Diva Satanica being singer of a different band. For a few years she joined Nervosa as a side project, but here she is with her main band!

And now let us concentrate on Bloodhunter and go through the songs of

Sons of the Abandoned

The Devil’s Own

The opener of the album comes along with a very melodic intro until…, yes, until Diva takes over and everything speeds up. No compromise, just pure extreme metal at its finest.

The Outspoken

A slightly “slower” songs follows, I like the drums at the beginning a lot. Even though it is a brutal song, it remains melodic and the short lead guitar intermezzi speak for themselves.

Threshold Of Hell

This is the song which features the first of two guest musicians. It starts with a fire engine siren, and everything is just overwhelming positive aggression, melodic and physically demanding with an unexpected middle part, get used to it, it is a highlight of the album.

Ephemeral Youth

Why should a band slow down when it can speed up again? Drums surge through the song like an unstoppable avalanche. There is no time to catch your breath, no time to slow down – just break through the walls and go your way.

Sons Of The Abandoned

The title track of the album does not stand back. It wastes no time and no energy to give a clear statement of Extreme Metal as only a few bands can give.

No One Beats Death

Bloodhunter continues where the previous track stopped. Incredible guitar work completes another masterpiece with perfectly growled lyrics of the true metal goddess.

Code Aeternam

Now it is time to be a bit slower again, almost to midtempo, but only almost. For most mainstream bands it would still be their “fastest” song though. It proves that harmonies, growls, and extreme metal fit together as ebony and ivory on a piano.

The Path That Never Ends

It certainly is the song I was most curious about because it features another guest musician on second vocals. You will recognize the vocalist right from the beginning of her verses for sure. Do you have an idea, who it can be without reading below? It is one of the most melodic songs of the album for sure. For an extreme metal band it is almost radio playable for the good of it. – Radio stations, did you read that?

The Night Is Darker Before The Dawn

This instrumental song – yes, give Diva a little break – highlights the band’s technical growth, and pays homage to its true metal’s legacy without idealizing the darker realities. It shows very harmonic guitar work and harmonies. Maybe it would be a perfect intro of extreme metal in disguise for a live show.

Masters Of Deceive

It mumbles… It mumbles from the underground. It mumbles you over and overcomes all your resistance. Surrender and pay tribute to the masters of extreme metal. Nevertheless, once again a very hormonic song with nice guitar interludes.

Human Insecticide

The closer of album speeds up again as if there is no tomorrow. When you are exhausted, it will boost you up again, it gives you all the energy to survive the day, the night, the next morning, and the paths your life will lead you to. This is pure f*cking energy! Take it, you need it!

What should I say?

I am more than blown away. I wished, some better-known bands could still create an album like this, it is perfect and melodic extreme metal at its best and deserves eleven of ten stars!

The album harmonizes extreme metal aggression and melodic depth, forging a sound that is both ferocious and emotionally charged due to strong instrumentalists beside Diva’s growls!

“Sons of the Abandoned” seems to mark a turning point for Bloodhunter. It is very personal and honest, shifting the focus inward to explore identity, vulnerability, personal struggle, and the cost of pursuing one’s own path. The lyrics speak directly from the heart, address inner demons, toxic environments, generational disconnection, and the feeling of being lonely in a world which lost its direction.

The album contains eleven songs and also features Dutch Laura Guldemond of Burning Witches on “The Path That Never Ends” as well as Portuguese Fernando Ribeira of Moonspell on “Threshold of Hell”.

“Sons of the Abandoned” is not just another extreme metal album — it is a statement of identity, resistance, and survival in a world without clear direction.
