Once again, I’ve seen three excellent bands. Even though their slots had quite usual lengths, I could have enjoyed each of them for a few more minutes and songs.
Enjoy three excellent bands in a row: Atavistia's sound is best described as Melodic Death Metal. We get Metsatöll from Estonia and a really fine kind of folk metal. Skálmöld invite you to a journey to the land of unicorns, elves, Nordic sagas and gods. They had just released their latest album “Ýdalir”.
Some weeks ago we reviewed their recent album “Ýdalir”, you can read the review here. Today we interview Þráinn Árni Baldvinsson, lead guitarist, to be fair, one of three guitarists, of Skálmöld from Iceland. We will soon report about their upcoming autumn tour after we already enjoyed their festival set at Summer Breeze Open Air, so stay tuned.
On August 18th, Iceland’s metal giants Skálmöld will release their sixth studio album, “Ýdalir”. It is their first album in five years and is inspired by several Icelandic sagas and Norse mythology, such as the poem Grímnismál. So you can call it a concept album. On the same day Skálmöld will perform at the Summer Breeze Open Air in Germany.
