Day 2
Before the main event, the crowd is treated to a traditional brass performance by the local group Edelweiß Echo. Their cheerful tunes set a perfect mood for the day, serving as a delightful and traditional way to start the festival while attendees enjoy their breakfast.
Greyback

Hailing from Tyrol, Greyback delivers a truly heartwarming performance. The chemistry on stage is undeniable, especially when the brother of the singer and former band co-founder joins them for the final two songs. The singer’s excitement was palpable, leading him to occasionally slip into his home dialect, which only added to the humble and fun atmosphere they created.
Avralize

The crowd was completely captivated by Avralize, a rising star from Rottweil. Known for their energetic dance moves and iconic fashion, they truly set the stage on fire. Their super active touring schedule was evident in their tight performance, and their local status made the audience even more proud to see them own the stage.
Necrotted

Necrotted‘s set was a mix of brutal energy and emotional farewells. The gig marked bass player Koray‘s last show with the band, and the crowd gave him a spectacular send-off, sending him crowdsurfing. The singer was incredibly hyped, constantly asking for more dancing from the audience. They even jokingly introduced one of their heavier tracks as a “cuddle track,” showing off their fun side amidst the powerful performance.
SETYØURSAILS

My personal favorite of the weekend, SETYØURSAILS, deliver an absolutely super energetic performance. The frontwoman’s connection with the crowd is amazing, and she even invites the many kids in the crowd on stage to join her for a song, later giving them guitar picks from the drum tech, whom they endearingly call “Uncle Drumbledore.” Her onstage persona is a striking contrast to her earlier, subtle incognito appearance on the infield, proving her incredible adaptability. Further highlights are marked by their bassist joining the crowd as well as their neck-breaking cover of Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff”.
Robse

The performance by Robse was a bit of a mixed bag. Despite the technical proficiency and great concept, the apparent lack of material for the relatively long timeslot leads to a lot of filler talking between songs. While the music itself is really good, the continuous, vulgar blabbering ultimately divides the crowd and overshadows the otherwise great performance. Then again, there was definitely a big chunk of people who chose to ignore it or make the best of it and enjoy the music anyway. After all, Robse’s status as a vocalist and his musical repertoire are renowned in the scene.
The Halo Effect

With strong ties to melodic death metal giants, In Flames, The Halo Effect from – where else but – Gothenburg, Sweden, did not disappoint. Their set is a testament to the growth of the festival, considering that they were also one of the Summer Breeze Open Air headliners this year. During their performance, the ground is shaking like an earthquake, and the crowd is trembling from both the heavy bass and the atmospheric and chillingly precise delivery. This was their first time at the festival, and their performance as the headliner was an incredible sight. We can only hope to see them return. Equally, we all hope that the Metalacker reputation keeps growing, allowing them to continue putting great headliners like them onto their billings.
Unprocessed

As the final act, Unprocessed bring a different vibe with their atmospheric, complex, and progressive djent core sound, reminiscent of bands like Polyphia or Periphery. The set, while a little intellectual for such a late time slot, is a perfect ending for the hardcore fans and completionists who stayed. A special bonus is their brief featuring with Avralize singer Severin Sailer. With a precise and jazzy touch, their performance is one of superlatives and fittingly not only concludes their world tour but also the Metalacker 2025.
