As most of you will have noticed, we rarely review single releases. As a change of pace, and because we received a lot of interesting songs, we have decided to make an exception for these June news. So, here is the first song from the underground scene that we want to introduce to you. It is the latest collaboration between musician Chris Maragoth and vocalist Cherry Summerfield of July15th.
Chris Maragoth – History on Repeat
A mean, forceful guitar riff is followed by Cherry’s growls, intermingled with her characteristic clear, high vocals. This mid-tempo song offers an intriguing reflection on the global surge in extreme ideologies and social division, as well as the erosion of empathy. The lyrics of “History on Repeat”convey a clear message: history does not merely repeat — it returns when we fail to reflect on and learn from past mistakes. Well done to you both!

Schandmaul – In der Hand
Now, we turn to something completely different. Schandmaul introduce their new vocalist, Till Herence, with “In der Hand”. As it was to be expected, we hear German lyrics and a very catchy folk rock song. Nevertheless, it is a fine piece of music in the best traditions of Schandmaul.

Gloryhammer – On a Quest for Aberdeen
We’re changing the genre once again. Now it’s time for some power metal. “On a Quest for Aberdeen” is the next chapter in Gloryhammer‘s saga. As you might expect, this power metal song features powerful rhythm guitars, harmonious solos and explosive melodies, all woven together to tell a tale of adventure, mythical creatures and an unstoppable destiny in just four minutes.
.
Grailknights – Necronomicon
“Necronomicon” of Grailknights has a rougher sound that is more at home in the melodic death metal genre than the power metal genre. It strikes the right balance between brutal solos, aggressive vocals and memorable melodies, without compromising its identity.
.
Lord Of The Lost – I will Die in It
It’s again time for a change of genre: welcome to the world of gothic metal with Lord Of The Lost‘s second release from their forthcoming album, “Opvs Noir Vol. 1”, the very meanful “I Will Die in It”. Chris Harms’ impressive vocals are backed by an intense, dark soundscape. This could well be one of their heaviest songs yet. I’m really looking forward to the album, which is due to be released in August.
.
Alura -Sorry, Nate
“Sorry, Nate” is the boldest and most chaotic creation from LA hard rockers Alura so far, and I hope there will be more like it in the future. The song is short, yet full of rawness, complexity, and emotion, so it could not be kept hidden. Drawing on contrasts of violence and peace, captivity and escape, and the quiet war between memory and identity, this single marks a new creative peak for the band.
.
Pinhead – The Lair
Progressive metal band Pinhead featuring Marc Andrejkovits, bassist of Mono Inc., creates a musical pull in the darkwave cosmos. “The Lair” takes listeners on a journey through a throbbing soundscape of electronic elements that will captivate them and, with its accompanying lyrical fragility, might never let them go.
.
ten56 – PTY FCK
For our final recommendation today, we’re going to stay on the extreme side of things. French nu deathcore sensation ten56 offer us “PTY FCK”. This song proves their standing as one of the most musically innovative and emotionally charged acts in the French metal scene.
