Friday starts slightly earlier, as already mentioned. Nevertheless, there is still enough time for a proper shower and breakfast until we get ready for the funny gig of the first band on the Main Stage. It is a tradition to wear funny clothes and costumes in the audience on Friday morning. You can see unicorns and dinosaurs in a mosh pit when Danish GUTTURAL SLUG take the stage.

Party.San Thursday

For 30 years, a small – indeed, NOT sooo small – community of dedicated metalheads has met for one of Germany’s most illustrious festivals. It is the place for real fans and enthusiasts, the place for experts and music lovers rather than for so-called festival tourists who just consume the atmosphere but neither breathe nor smell nor live it. For me, it is only the third time, but I have been completely in love with Party.San Open Air from the very first minute.

Rock & Metal Day’z 2026

Spending your summer holidays at festivals will always be exciting. But there usually are boring days in between. One way to combat this is to become part of the festival crew. That's what I've been doing for years. So, on a sunny Sunday afternoon, I drive to Oschersleben to help set up the stage, the infield and the stalls before the festival starts on Thursday 25 June. It was damn hot at 40°C in the shade, but there was no shade. Still, we made it through.

ROCKHARZ 2026 SATURDAY

I turn over in bed and suddenly it's Saturday morning, the last day of my two-week festival holiday before I drive home on Sunday. I already miss my cats... Nevertheless, at 11:20, it's time for the sensational newcomer, PINHEAD, to open on the Rock Stage. I’m not the only one blown away by their raw industrial modern metalcore this early in the day. Finland is very progressive in this case...

ROCKHARZ 2026 – Wednesday and Thursday

As some of you may know, we spent over a week at the Rock Metal & Day’z festival in Oschersleben before moving on to the ROCKHARZ festival on Tuesday 30 June. It's less than a 50 km trip, so we arrive early enough to check in and set up camp without any stress. Incidentally, the system of dedicated routes for the individual campgrounds, which has been in place for a while now, worked very well again.

Ulmich om Braand 2026 – the Report

On Friday 12 June, after work, I'm off to Ulmbach for the UOB – Ulmich om Braand – festival at the Schützenhaus. I park the car at the campground and in the day-parking area, then make my way – a beer’s-length walk – to the festival site. It’s not exactly easy going; it’s been raining heavily over the last few days, so we’re faced with conditions reminiscent of Wacken.

UOB 2026 first impressions

I have just returned from the UOB (Ulmich om Braand) festival, which is held somewhere between Frankfurt and Fulda in a fantastic, picturesque setting. The festival experienced Wacken-style weather conditions on Friday, followed by a fantastic sunny but not hot Saturday, which dried up all the mud as well as possible. Anyway, before I talk too much, here are my first impressions of this two-days festival.
