Friend.X aka Mr. Deep
Amorphis – Borderland
Borderland is unusual for Amorphis but still clearly Amorphis. Some people might miss the rougher side of the band. Others will appreciate this different side to the band. The producer’s softer influence is undeniable. Consider it an experiment in crossing borders. Welcome to the “Borderland”, Amorphis. Welcome to a new shore everybody outside in the world!
Autumn News
Summer is over. Open Air Festival season is over. Winter is coming. We nevertheless stop in between for an autumn overlook.
NOAF 2025, Our First Time
Three weeks after the Party.San Open Air, it's time for the second and final encore of my summer festival season. I will be visiting a nearby festival. In fact, it is so close that I had never been before. For 19 years, it was just too close in time to another festival that I had attended regularly for almost a decade. Now, however, the time has come for me to add NOAF in Wörrstadt to my list of local festivals. I will therefore commute between my warm, dry bed at home and the festival.
Fury – Interceptor
When the Birmingham-based band Fury performed at Rock & Metal Day’z in June 2025, they told me that their new album had already been produced and that pre-sales would start soon. The time has now come for the final release of Interceptor on 5th September 2025, and I am delighted to review the album. This is their first album to be released with the support of the Danish label Mighty Music Records, and their fifth album overall.
Chatting with Laura of Burning Witches
A few days before the release of ‘Inquisition’, the sixth album by Burning Witches, we interviewed the band’s vocalist. The last time I met her was at Rock & Metal Day’z 2024, where Burning Witches headlined the festival and the band were present throughout. We talk about babies, the album, music, tours and much more. So, without further ado, let's hear what Laura Guldemond has to say.
Anna KiaRa – Symphony of Rage
I really enjoyed listening to the album; it's refreshing and different from the usual mainstream symphonic and power metal you hear on the radio. Anna’s vocals and technical skills are outstanding and far above average. She is able to create storytelling soundscapes as few other musicians can.
Burning Witches – Inquisition
When Courtney Cox joined Burning Witches due to Larissa’s pregnancy, I knew this is the ultimate line-up for this Swiss metal band. I am therefore more than happy to review the band's forthcoming release “Inquisition” which is the first to feature Courtney as one of the two lead guitarists. Hopefully, there will be more to come in the future. Praising the excellent technical skills of the five musicians would be like taking coals to Newcastle. So, without further ado, let's check out the 12 tracks.
Party.San 2025 – We Love Hell
For the 29th time nearly 10.000 fans of the more extreme metal genres gathered at the airport Obermehler near Schlotheim in Thuringia to enjoy - with only a handful of exceptions - mostly variants of Death, Black and Thrash Metal peacefully together while having fun and in-depth discussions about the bands. As you can find a more detailed description of the area in the articles from the last two years, this year’s focus will be more on the tight programme and the most important thing, the bands.
August 2025 – Single Release News
After summer holidays with 3 festivals in a row and a lot of writing and editing, it seems to be time for a little release update which of course is not complete and never will be.
July15th is the band we start with.
