Festival season has just begun. There are more festivals to come. What we can see on the horizon looks promising. We will see mainstream festivals, small festivals, large festivals and extreme festivals. Party.San in Schlotheim is one of these extreme metal festivals. Party.San has around 10,000 spectators and presents a very interesting line-up, as you can see. Along with the audience and the great line-up comes a selection of merchandise, food and drink stalls that prioritises quality over quantity. Read our 2024 report to find out more.

Easy peasy

Let’s see what might happen from 7th to 9th August 2025 on the airfield, which has two huge tarred runways. The campsites are located alongside and between the two runways. Wednesday is an easy day, with most participants already arriving on this 6th August. At 20:00, the gates to the tent stage open to enjoy Cuba Libre and the infamous Metal Disco, which will serve as the after-show party for the following days.

Stages

Each festival day at Party.San begins and ends with gun shots from the two guns flanking the main stage, one of them actually being called Esmiralda. The area is very spacious, surrounded by merch, drink, and food stalls. Behind the tower of the sound and light are tents where you could sit and have some shade, while being able to watch and listen to the bands on the main stage. Or you pay a visit to the smaller tent stage just round the corner of the entrance.

Thursday to Saturday

On these days, Extreme Metal bands rule over Schlotheim. So far there is no running order or daily schedule published so please check the festival’s website for news – or be surprised on the spot. Here is the list of bands 2025 anyway:

This line-up sounds interesting, doesn’t it? I am pretty sure, everybody will find more than one bands he or she knows, likes or adores. So don’t hesitate and get a ticket now.

Food and Drinks

Depending on what you desire you find a good selection of different tastes. There is a wide selection of vegetarian and vegan food. Otherwise there is a wide range of food for meat lovers, Asian food, traditional German sausages and Haxn, etc.

And there is also an Irish pub, where you could have a lovely selection of whisky at fair prices in a real jar. and don’t forget the Cuba Libre bar, but it is dangerous to overestimate your drinking skills as you might realize the morning after.

Merchandise

The band and festival merchandise is sold in a stall near the main stage. From time to time, it might be a bit cramped in front of the stall. Other stalls are placed at the infield’s entrance and opposite of the stage which made a good walk around.

Audience

Well, nothing else to be expected from metalheads, the people are really nice. Someone said on social media that Party.San is more of a meeting of the music scene than a festival and I would back that. Naturally, fun and partying is part of a festival, but people come here primarily for the music and not just for a party weekend. It definitely is no event for mainstream festival tourists, they would get lost.

The Crew

They all are really nice and helpful. The stewards at the gates and entrance are lovely and very relaxed. Sure, they are strict if something is wrong, but still calm, polite and kind. Controls at the doors are quick but effective. The security in the pit is on top notch all the time and still had a sense of humour. I can’t wait to hear the voice of the “Mistress of the Toilets” in the morning hour commanding people to line up in three rows in front of the water closets and suggesting to the “courageous” women to use the urinal instead. She MUST have been a Drill Sergeant in a former life…. These are the people who make a festival different and outstanding. You can watch good bands almost everywhere, but a good crew is the heart of the festival.

And of course there were you, metal heads from all over the world. You can celebrate a unique Extreme Metal Party.San. Maybe you don’t smile or laugh as much as mainstream festival tourists, but it doesn’t mean you will have less fun. In general, you all are very kind, supportive and polite. There will be no aggression or prejudice. Just a metal family all together. See you all in August!
