A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of seeing Knife at the Rock & Metal Day'z festival. I had a little chat with singer Vince Nihil and he mentioned the "soon to be released" new album. The wild speed metal performance of Knife convinced me quite a lot, so here it is, the review of "Heaven Into Dust", to be released on 25th August 2023.
The line-up this year was limited to “real” metal, nothing else. I like some fun stuff in between too, but this Party.San line-up was like going back to my youth, a lot of Death Metal. It was a pleasure to see Obituary and Hypocrisy having a headliner spot with an awesome sound, and not just in the afternoon. The sound, by the way, was really great in general. And it was fantastic to see many Death and some Black Metal bands. Some of which I ‘ve never had the chance of seeing before, and now all of them just one after the other.
Trash Panda’s sound combines elements of blasting modern groovy death metal with nasty, slamming brutal death and all of this is sprinkled with the atmospherics that remind me of The Black Dahlia Murder or Winds of Plague.
KiaRa is one of Imperial Age’s two female vocalists – beside Jane Odintsova. She released her first solo album “Storyteller” in 2020. In her own words, “the sound on this album [Archangel] is much higher quality and professional than on the first one album ‘Storyteller’. The music is also more mature.” I personally liked Storyteller for its roughness quite a lot, let’s see and hear about the progress now.
A wunderkind he is, Nikhil, engaged in several projects such as Bludgeoned, Theurgy or Undeciphered. But then there also is his solo project Anal Stabwound and playing gigs with different jazz and rock bands.
